PT Dairi Prima Mineral- perusahaan tambang timah hitam yang mengeksploitasi bentang alam hutan dan kebun di Kabupaten Dairi ini sahamnya dimiliki keluarga bakrie (49%) dan pengusaha China (51%). Tambang ini mengancam sumber air yang digunakan warga untuk bersawah, berkebun, dan aktivitas reproduksi sosial perempuan untuk masak, cuci, kakus (MCK).
